In this treatment two different energies work on the facial skin, and they are used together precisely because they heat the tissue in different ways. The diode laser is light: it passes through the surface without removing it and gives off heat at the depth its wavelength reaches. Radio frequency is alternating current: it heats through the resistance of the tissue itself, spreads more widely and reaches layers that light reaches less well. Both actions are non-ablative — the surface of the skin is not damaged. The session: cleansing, assessment of phototype and skin condition, then the laser pass and the radio frequency stage over contact gel. What you feel is rising warmth; the specialist asks how intense it is and guides the handpiece so as to keep it at a comfortable limit.
The treatment needs no separate recovery period: the skin may stay pink and warm for a few hours, and make-up is usually put off until the next day. The result is not immediate — the skin firms over the weeks following the visit, as the tissue responds to the heating, which is why tightening is done as a course, with its length and intervals set by the specialist after an examination. Preparation: 2–4 weeks before the visit without strong sun or a solarium — this is a requirement of the laser part, as its settings cannot be chosen safely on a fresh tan. The radio frequency part has its own restrictions, which do not coincide with the laser ones, so the specialist checks them separately before the session.
